Some cities are more than just places – they are emotions. Vienna is one of those cities. With its imperial heritage, timeless elegance, and avant-garde artistry, it has a distinctive rhythm that resonates with anyone who experiences it.
With the new Vienna, Carl Suchy & Söhne captures this spirit and translates it into a timepiece that does more than measure time – it tells stories. Inspired by Viennese Modernism, it merges architectural clarity with the delicate precision of Swiss watchmaking.
The Art of Reduction
Viennese Modernism taught us that true beauty lies in clarity – perfection in both form and function. No superfluous ornamentation, only the essential. This principle defines the Vienna: light and shadow dance across the dial, while the hands glide through time in silent precision. With every turn of the rotating seconds disc, the fine pattern completes itself – a steady, quiet rhythm that echoes the life of the city.
A Tribute to Viennese Modernism
The refined geometric lines of the Vienna reflect Vienna’s aesthetic essence. Inspired by the architecture of Adolf Loos and Josef Hoffmann, it carries their legacy forward – reinterpreted in a contemporary way by renowned watch designer Eric Giroud:
“The dial exhibits a deliberate and thoughtful design language with clean lines – it is very Adolf Loos, very Josef Hoffmann. I thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself in this world. What fascinated me most was witnessing how a brand with 200 years of history evolves a new identity by integrating contemporary design codes and modern lines.”
Vienna – A Timepiece in Sync with the City’s Rhythm
Vienna is not just architecture and design – it is also sound. The city pulses to the rhythm of its history: the deep chimes of cathedral bells, the soft rattling of trams, and the first notes of an aria drifting into the night from the Vienna State Opera. The Vienna timepiece follows this rhythm, its mechanical heart beating in harmony with the city’s soul.
Fine Watchmaking Meets Viennese Elegance
Each Vienna timepiece is meticulously handcrafted by master watchmaker Marc Jenni. Its exclusive Côte de Vienne finish gives the movement a distinctive signature – a subtle reference to the Viennese Waltz. Powered by the ultra-thin automatic caliber CSS-V1, it features a waltzing seconds disc at six o’clock, creating a mesmerizing rhythmic display.
The 39-mm stainless steel (316L) case lends it an elegant presence, while the domed, double anti-reflective sapphire crystal ensures perfect visibility of the artistic dial. On the underside, a hidden detail reveals itself: the intricate engravings on the golden micro-rotor depict a double griffin and the double-headed eagle crowned with the imperial Habsburg crown – a subtle touch of imperial grandeur, visible only to the wearer and a nod to our brand’s historic logo. The strap, made from the finest leather, carries yet another tribute to Vienna: its inner lining is engraved with the iconic roof pattern of St. Stephen’s Cathedral.
The Vienna is more than a watch. It is a memory, a connection – a piece of Vienna on the wrist. A love letter to a city that cannot be explained – it must be experienced.
